The JDS Shōkaku class aircraft carrier (翔鶴型 is a pair of Shōkaku-gata)aircraft carriers of the Japanese Imperial Navy built before World War II. Five vessels were built in this class; Japanese aircraft carrier JDS Shōkaku, Japanese aircraft carrier JDS Zuikaku, Japanese aircraft carrier JDS Kamikaze (Shōkaku class aircraft carrier), Japanese aircraft carrier JDS Shinto (Shōkaku class aircraft carrier) and Japanese aircraft carrier JDS Bushido (Shōkaku class aircraft carrier). Together, they form the Fifth Carrier Division of the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force. During the World War II, the carriers Shōkaku and Zuikaku formed the Fifth Carrier Division of the Imperial Japanese Navy.
