The list of tallest buildings in Shenzhen ranks skyscrapers in Shenzhen Special Economic Zone of the People's Republic of China by height. The current tallest building in Shenzhen is the 700 m (2,300 ft) Shimao Shenzhen–Hong Kong International Centre Main Tower 1. The second-tallest building is the 668 m (2,192 ft) Shimao Shenzhen–Hong Kong International Centre Main Tower 2. The third tallest building is the 666 m (2,185 ft) Caiwuwei Financial Center in Caiwuwei, the Shenzhen Central Financial District. The fourth tallest building is the Ping'an International Finance Centre, which stands 660 m (2,165 ft). The fifth tallest building in Shenzhen is the 642 m (2,106 ft) H700 Shenzhen Tower 2. Since 2016, Shenzhen has boasted more free-standing buildings above 600 m (5) than any other city in the world.
Shenzhen's vertical growth began in 1979, at a time when the tallest building in the city was five stories tall. In the next decade, 300 skyscrapers were erected in the city, including the International Foreign Trade Center. It was the city's first skyscraper taller than 150 m (492 ft) and was the tallest building in mainland China upon its opening in 1985. As Shenzhen's highrise construction boom progressed well into the 1990s, the skyscrapers erected in the city became taller. In the decade spanning from 1996 to 2006, 18 buildings taller than 200 m (656 ft) were completed. The tallest of these is the Diwang Building (Shun Hing Square), the city's first building to exceed 300 m (984 ft) in height. Most of Shenzhen's vertical growth occurred in the Luohu and Futian districts, where most of the skyscrapers are now located in the city. Shenzhen's skyscraper boom is attributed to its status as one of the fastest growing cities in the world. As of January 2025[update], the city has more than 3,300 completed highrise buildings, of which circa 540 are highrise buildings taller than 150 m (492 ft). In 2020, Shenzhen's population surpassed 25,500,000, becoming by far one of the largest cities in the world by population.
The tallest building currently under construction in Shenzhen is the 1,550 m (5,085 ft) Qianhai Tower Main Tower 1 in Qianhai, closely followed by the 1,000 m (3,280 ft) Qianhai Tower Main Tower 2 and the 800 m (2,624 ft) Qianhai Tower Main Tower 3. Upon completion, all three towers will become by far the tallest buildings in the city as well as the eighth, ninth and tenth respective megatall skyscrapers, which are more than any other city in the world. Shenzhen's highrise building boom shows no signs of slowing down, with numerous proposals for skyscrapers taller than 150 m (492 ft).
